Sáng ngày 15/12, Trường Đại học Kiên Giang đã tổ chức khánh thành và đưa vào sử dụng các hạng mục trong khu liên hợp thể dục thể thao. Ông Tân Thành Huy – Phó Chủ tịch UBND huyện Châu Thành cùng đại diện Đảng ủy, Ban Giám hiệu, lãnh đạo các đơn vị thuộc và trực thuộc Trường Đại học Kiên Giang, đơn vị thi công, đơn vị giám sát đã đến dự.

Kien Giang University's sports complex was invested and built with a total cost of 41 billion VND, including: multi-purpose gymnasium, swimming pool, 3 mini football fields, tennis court.

Particularly, the swimming pool, changing room, computer room, 5-person mini football field, and tennis court inaugurated this time were built on an area of 7,000 square meters with a total investment of phase 1 of 5 billion VND. The project is invested by Kien Giang University. Thinh Phu Construction-Trading Company Limited is the winning contractor for the construction. After nearly 4 months of construction to date, all items of the project have been completed on schedule, meeting the design quality.

Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector in charge of Kien Giang University spoke at the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector in charge of Kien Giang University said that the sports complex was one of the contents aiming at celebrating the 10^th  anniversary of the school's foundation (May 21^st 2014 - May 21^st , 2024), after inauguration, not only directly serving the training activities of physical education programs for 24 majors, but also creating an environment for officials, lecturers, laborers, and students, school members participating in training activities and promoting the spirit of sports competition.

 In addition, the school was going to coordinate with local authorities to well implement Directive No. 17/CT-TTg dated May 16^th , 2016 of the Prime Minister on strengthening direction and implementation of accidental injury, and drowning prevention and control for students and children.

The construction and inauguration of the sports complex aimed at implementing Kien Giang University development strategy for the period 2020 - 2030 and vision to 2040; strengthening and gradually improving facilities and equipment to serve the activities of lecturers and learners at the school.
