Sáng ngày 08/01/2019, Trường Đại học Kiên Giang đã phối hợp với các đơn vị có liên quan tổ chức Hội thảo khoa học Quốc tế: “Chiến lược quản lý nông nghiệp trong điều kiện biến đổi khí hậu hướng đến mục tiêu phát triển bền vững” nhằm tạo điều kiện giao lưu, chia sẻ kinh nghiệm, trao đổi kết quả, thành tựu nghiên cứu khoa học giữa các Trường đại học trong nước và các nước lân cận.

Attending the Conference there were: Assoc. Dr. Thai Thanh Luom - Rector of Kien Giang University; Representative leaders of Andalas University include: Prof. Dr. Musliar Kasim – Former Deputy Minister of Education, University of Andalas, Indonesia; Prof. Dr. Hermansah – Vice President of Andalas University, along with 10 students from Indonesia; Dr. Wattanai Onsamrarn – Lecturer at Sukhothai Thammatirat Open University, Thailand; with leaders, lecturers and students of Kien Giang University.

Overview of the hall during the Conference

The conference took place with 6 papers from speakers on the impact of climate change on agricultural development strategies such as: “Strategies and action plans to reduce emissions from deforestation, land degradation, and land degradation. in West Sumatra, Indonesia” by Prof. Dr. Prof Hermansah; “The Impact of Climate Change on Agriculture in Thailand” by Dr. Wattanai Onsamrarn; "Converting crops and livestock under climate change: A case study of rice-fish model in flood season in An Giang province" by Dr. Duong Van Nha; and especially: "Impacts of climate change on people's lives in the Mekong Delta" and "Restore and develop protection forests in the West Coast of the Mekong Delta - Vietnam" of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thai Thanh Luom.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thai Thanh Luom - Rector of Kien Giang University as well as Prof. Dr. Hermansah - Vice-Chancellor of the University of Andalas emphasized: Agriculture and food are two essential areas in our social life.

In the current period, agricultural development faces many difficulties due to climate change and sea level rise. This is an opportunity to share and emphasize the importance of proposing solutions and strategies for agricultural management in the context of climate change and the industrial revolution 4.0.

Also on this occasion, representatives from Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam together planted souvenir trees at the campus of Kien Giang University. This is also an opportunity to connect and cooperate with scientific researchers at universities in the region, namely Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
