The school organized a gift-giving ceremony to support employees and international students who could not return home during the epidemic.

On the afternoon of July 18th, Kien Giang University organized a visit, encouragement and gift-giving ceremony for employees in difficulty, international students and students still on campus to avoid the Covid-19 epidemic. This was a support to share the difficulties with students before implementing social distancing according to Directive 16 of the Prime Minister.

Attending the gift-giving ceremony there were Venerable Thich Phap Tri - Chief Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Buddhist Sangha of Kien Giang Province; Board of Directors of Kien Giang University.

Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh asked international students to strictly implement Directive 16 of the Prime Minister.

Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh - Rector said that during this summer, the dormitory of Kien Giang University was hosting approximately 100 students, among whom 70 Lao and Cambodian students were staying to avoid the epidemic due to the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, and they were unable to return home for their summer holiday.

During this period, the school mobilized and coordinated with Thap Phuong Pagoda (Kien Giang Province) to distribute 100 gifts to students avoiding the epidemic at the School's dormitory, including essential necessities such as rice, instant noodles, canned fish, etc.

Venerable Thich Phap Tri shared that the gifts sent to KGU students were meaningful gifts, demonstrating the spirit of mutual love of the nation, bringing the compassion of Buddha to the community during the days of social distancing.

At the gift-giving ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh sent words of encouragement, visited and reminded his students to limit leaving the dormitory, only go out when absolutely necessary such as buying food, groceries, medicine. "Hopefully, the sense of responsibility and humanity that the school has given to the students will spread the spirit, create trust and motivation in students to effectively implement social distancing according to Directive 16, and together with the school to effectively prevent and fight the Covid-19 epidemic" - Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh shared.

The Board of Directors and Venerable Thich Phap Tri presented gifts to support international students avoiding the epidemic at the dormitory.

After receiving the support gifts, Tokoung To Noynoy, a Laos student majoring in Business Administration, shared when he heard Kien Giang province was applying Directive 16, he was very worried about eating and living in the coming time because of the restriction on going out. Yet today, receiving the school’s encouragement and support, he felt more secure and warm-hearted when living in the midst of the epidemic.

Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh - Rector of Kien Giang University presented gifts to support Cambodian and Lao students during the epidemic.

Meanwhile, Hoy Navy, a Cambodian student majoring in Food Technology, confided: “I really miss my hometown. Because of the epidemic, I have had to stay at school for nearly 2 years. I felt very lucky to be able to stay in the school’s dormitory and receive a lot of attention, encouragement, and assistance from lecturers and friends, which helped me feel more secure in the coming days.

Although the epidemic was difficult, besides receiving support gifts, each month my friends and I received 1 million VND in support from the school. I would like to thank the school and the benefactors who visited and sent us gifts!

Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Vice Rector presented gifts to employees in hardship working at the University.

Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh added that in the near future, the school was continuing to mobilize benefactors, philanthropists and the Youth Union to continue to provide material and spiritual support for students staying in dormitories to avoid the epidemic in the coming time, so that they can study and live with peace of mind, ensuring their safety.
