On the afternoon of November 9th, Kien Giang University held the 7th School Council Meeting for 2019-2024 term. Attending the meeting there were the School Board Directors and members of School Council. Dr. Dang Thanh Son - Chairman of School Council hosting the meeting.

The meeting approved on Quarter 3 result report, the direction and tasks of Quarter 4 in 2020; school Council's supervision reports; passed the report papers of Director Board on amending and supplementing several articles of Regulations on organization and operation at Kien Giang University, on cooperating in solar power production and providing experimental analysis services, on promulgating the development strategies of Kien Giang University in period 2020 - 2030 and their vision to 2040. However, the reports, requesting papers, and strategies needed adjusting and supplementing according to the comments of the University Council members.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hung Luc, member of University Council, recommended that it was necessary to minimize the number of students absent from university and quitting class and quickly open majors in health sciences to satisfy the requirements of learning and supplying human resources in the future.

Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Vice Rector of Kien Giang University reported on Quarter 3 implementation results, the direction and Quarter 4 tasks in 2020.

Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh - President of Kien Giang University acknowledged that according to the data analysis reports, most of the students absent from school were freshmen. The University was orienting and finding solutions to minimize those in the coming time (under 7.0 %/class).

Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh supposed that in the coming period, Kien Giang University has set a target of increasing enrollment by 10.00 % each year; opening two new under-graduate training majors and one Master's training major in 2020-2021 school year; 95.00% of students were employed after 1-year-graduation; approving at least 10 international students attending the university annually, ...at the same time, creating a quality learning environment for the community development, orienting Kien Giang University to become an application center and scientific transfer, especially high-tech application in Mekong Delta region in the fields of agriculture, marine economy, tourism, ...

Prof. Dr. Ta Ngoc Don - Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Ministry of Education and Training contributed his comments.

According to Prof. Ta Ngoc Don’s suggestion of how to make a breakthrough in scientific research, Kien Giang University needs to develop strategic and managing regulations; coordinate well between the school and local businesses in implementing scientific and technological research development programs, take good advantage of capital resources and facilities for scientific and technological development so as to increase revenue for the school.
