On the afternoon of July 13th, the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of Kien Giang University held a meeting on Covid-19 prevention and control, ensuring safety, health, and effective work according to the epidemic situation.

At the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh - Rector directed the contents that need focusing on such as: Strengthening propaganda work, raising awareness of officials, lecturers, employees, and students of the University in the work of preventing and controlling Covid-19, strictly implementing Decision No. 1729/QD-UBND of Kien Giang People's Committee on applying urgent measures to prevent and control Covid-19 in Kien Giang province.

At the same time, he assigned the Organization - Personnel Department to advise on perfecting the Steering Committee; Assigned the Standing Committee of the School's Covid-19 Prevention and Control Steering Committee to review and develop additional scenarios for Covid-19 prevention and control at the Dormitory, in order to strengthen epidemic prevention and control measures, ensure safety, health, food, and the most essential living needs of students, especially international students, and to proactively respond if there were cases of infection at the dormitory. The Youth Union developed a plan to visit and support international students and Vietnamese students staying at the dormitory so that each student felt warm and secure when occupying the school.

And he requested the heads of units under and directly under the school to organize appropriate work for specialists, ensure absolute safety, and implement epidemic prevention and control measures at the office, especially the administrative group. As for the faculties, during the summer, it was necessary to apply information technology to exchange work, limit direct meetings; try to stick to the implementation timelines for the new school year, and proactively carry out assigned tasks well.

Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh, added that the school also directed the Training Department to continue to coordinate with the faculties to have a master plan for organizing online exams for semester 3, school year 2020 - 2021. Particularly for practical subjects, physical education and sports, students could be allowed to transfer to semester 1 of the new school year.

Lecturers working as academic advisors were required to proactively contact students to advise and guide students to have a high awareness in the work of preventing the Covid - 19 epidemic; to guide students to register for online courses, especially to complete tuition fees 1 week before the start of the new semester.

“In addition, the school also directed the Training Department and specialized faculties to develop a connection plan, guide freshmen to complete online admission procedures, provide guidance on training programs, how to register for courses, etc. At the same time, a plan to coordinate with the Provincial Post Office to sign a cooperation agreement on organizing and announcing the spots for distributing and receiving documents at communal post offices across the province was also requested.
