On the morning of October 23rd, Kien Giang University solemnly held the Opening Ceremony of the new school year 2020 - 2021 with the participation of over 500 delegates, guests and students.

Attending the Opening Ceremony there were Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang Province; Mr. Pham Cong Kham - former member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Director of Kien Giang Provincial Political School; and leaders of departments, branches, colleges inside and outside Kien Giang province.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh - Rector of Kien Giang University emphasized that school year 2020-2021 was the first year that Kien Giang University implemented the school development strategy for period 2020-2030 with the vision "By 2030 and the following years, Kien Giang University will have been a multi-disciplinary, multi-level, multi-system training school, conducting high-quality scientific research and technology transfer in the direction of application; a reliable school, a professional, creative and friendly learning and working environment; spacious and modern facilities belonging to the group of fairly well application-oriented training institutions in the country". To achieve the goal, the University focused on building a healthy educational environment, preserving, promoting and upholding the core values ​​​​of "Dedication - Prestige - Quality - Integration".

This school year, Kien Giang University chose the theme "Ensuring comprehensive quality and efficiency in each task". The school set an enrollment target of 1,375 full-time university students; opened 02 new undergraduate training majors and 01 master's training major; in order to strive that in school year 2020-2021, the rate of excellent and good students reached over 15%, good 40%; the rate of employed students after 1 year graduation was over 85%... Till then, the school welcomed 1,230 students, reaching 98.4% of the target, bringing the total student population to 4,000 students.

Kien Giang University also awarded certificates of merit to 16 students achieving the title of excellent students in school year 2019-2020; rewarded 2 students who were valedictorians in the 2020 admissions period; awarded 2 certificates of merit from the Ministry of Education and Training to 2 individuals with outstanding achievements in Covid-19 prevention and control.

Dr. Dang Thanh Son - Chairman of the Council of Kien Giang University awarded Tran Chau Cuong (Business Administration) and Thi Kim Hoang (Accounting) as the top students in the 2020 admissions.

On this occasion, organizations, businesses and individuals sponsored the School's Scholarship Fund to support students in difficult circumstances with an amount of over 200 million VND.

The sponsor presented the sponsorship money symbol to the Scholarship Fund of Kien Giang University.
