Kien Giang University opened the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Week 2024

On the morning of April 15th, Kien Giang University held the opening ceremony of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Week 2024, attracting nearly 200 officials, lecturers, and students’ attendance.

Nearly 200 officials, lecturers, and students attended the opening of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Week 2024.

Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Week 2024 at Kien Giang University took place from April 15th  to 19th, at the Library and Information Center, aiming at building and developing the reading movement among officials, workers and students; honoring the value of books, affirming the role, position and importance of books in teaching and learning, building and developing a reading culture among officials, workers and students; enhancing the responsibility of the school collective and students in building and developing a reading culture.

Throughout the week, a series of cultural activities associated with books took place such as: organizing displays and introducing new books; arranging art books; Cheerful games; organizing a seminar on "Developing reading culture in the digital age". In cyberspace, there was going to be a contest to introduce good books with the theme "Good books need reading".

On this occasion, Kien Giang University cooperated with the Student Association of Kien Giang province and Phuong Nam Bookstore Kien Giang branch to exhibit and display more than 500 books, including 1,000 copies of books with all genres about Vietnam - Country - People, about president Ho Chi Minh, sovereignty over Vietnam's seas and islands, new rural area establishment …

Distributing opening speech, Associate Professor. Dr. Nguyen Trung Cang - Vice Director of Kien Giang University said that this was the third time Kien Giang University had organized and implemented activities to develop reading culture, responding to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day. This was an activity of special significance, contributing to affirming the role, position, and importance of reading culture and honoring the value of books in social life, consciousness, and development in the community, helping readers, especially young people to gain more confidence in their love of books, honor reading culture, and at the same time educate the tradition of loving one's homeland and country.

“Hopefully this year's Book and Reading Culture Week will give you the opportunity to discover new books, learn about topics of interest, have a lot of fun, and create the best conditions to help readers to improve knowledge source for further study, improve your knowledge and skills and increase your passion for reading, especially turn reading into a daily habit" - Associate Professor. Dr. Nguyen Trung Cang said.
