Organizing the Competition of Young Good Lecturers in 2018
In order to promote the emulation movement of "good teaching, good learning", contributing to creating a change in the quality and effectiveness of teaching and research, recently, the grassroots Trade Union of Kien Giang University held the Competition of Young Good Lecturers in 2018.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Thai Thanh Luom – Principal of the school directs the contest of young good teachers in 2018.
Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh - Vice President of Kien Giang University said that after the launch, 42 candidates registered for the exam. Through the preliminary round at the faculty level, 16 candidates have been selected to participate in the final round at the school level. According to the rules, each candidate will participate in 2 parts including a knowledge test and a practice test. For the knowledge test, candidates do the test in 45 minutes with the following contents: Law on Education; Law on higher education; Regulation on credit training issued in 2018; Regulations on pupils, and students... As for the lecture test, candidates choose to teach 1 theory or practice period for 50 minutes, and then answer questions posed by members of the Jury to test their knowledge skills and teachers’ capacity to solve practical problems.

According to Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh’s evaluation, the school-level exams are serious and of great quality; many lectures have promoted the positivity of learners; lecturers use relatively appropriate and effective teaching methods; Practical lectures are organized, thoroughly researched, practical to train students' skills and talent to meet the requirements of human resources... However, there are still limitations such as: some lecturers still play a central role. They have not yet promoted students’ initiative, and students’ actively building lessons from the students’ side; model exploiting and applying is not high...
After the competition, the Jury Council selected 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes and 4 minor prizes. Specifically as follows: Mr. Nguyen Van Phuoc - Faculty of Agriculture and Rural Development won the first prize; MSc. Nguyen Van To Huu - Faculty of Politics - Law, MSc. Trinh Le Hoang Tuan - Faculty of Information - Communication won the second prize; MSc. Bui Kien An - Faculty of Engineering and Technology, MSc. Danh Ngoc Tham - Faculty of Pedagogy and Humanities, MA. Huynh Vuong Uyen Thy - Faculty of Foreign Languages won the third prize; MA. Huynh Chi - Faculty of Pedagogy and Humanities won the prize for Lecturer using the best teaching media; MSc. Tran Viet Quyen - Faculty of Agriculture and Rural Development won the award for best behavior lecturer; MSc. Nguyen Quoc Vuong - Faculty of Economics - Tourism won the award for the best Lecturer; MSc. Nguyen Van Phuoc - Faculty of Agriculture and Rural Development won the award for the best lecturer.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Thai Thanh Luom - Rector of the school awarded certificates of merit to the candidates who won the first and second prizes.
Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh – Vice President of the University awarded certificates of merit to the candidates who won the third prize.
MSc. Huynh Kim Thuy – President of the Grassroots Trade Union of the University of Science and Technology awarded certificates of merit to the candidates who won the secondary prizes.
Through the contest, lecturers had more opportunities to exchange, learn from experience, and improve their qualification, capacity and teaching skills, and promote the innovation of teaching and learning methods throughout the University.
