Training highly skilled human resources to keep up with Industry 4.0 trends
In the changing context of technology 4.0, training activities need to shift to keep up with employment trends and skills for the workforce. It can be said that industries belonging to the engineering and technology sector are a mandatory requirement, the "breath" of industry 4.0, because currently all production lines need its contribution.
According to Dr. Do Le Binh - Head of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Kien Giang University, in addition to building an application-oriented training program, prioritizing practice time to ensure students have good access to work. After graduation, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology also strongly innovated the training program, building the program structure towards interdisciplinary integration. Accordingly, the industries are closely related and linked. This industry is the foundation, creating conditions for other industries to develop, through which students can connect knowledge, adapt, and meet the requirements of their responsibilities well in the new circumstance.

Currently, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology is training two majors: Construction Engineering Technology and Control and Automation Engineering. With the goal of training engineers with skills suitable to market needs, with knowledge, able to absorb, master, exploit and operate effectively the technological advances of the Industrial Revolution; Strengthening cohesion and meet business needs for human resources; contributing to improving the quality of qualified labor resources in Kien Giang province and the Mekong Delta region.
Dr. Do Le Binh, added that with the Control and Automation Engineering major, the Faculty trains engineers capable of programming, controlling and automating lines in industrial manufacturing plants; Not only does he have knowledge about electrical and electronic equipment and automation systems, but he also has programming thinking and the ability to build control systems. After graduation, students can work in any production environment that uses automation systems with positions such as design, operation, and maintenance engineers in production lines; system engineer, automation engineer; Project leaders, consultants, technical managers or lecturers at training facilities...

In order to support training, Kien Giang University invested about 13 billion VND to purchase machinery and equipment, arranged 2 machines and soil mechanics practice rooms to serve practical teaching. To create conditions for students to have more access to real working environments, the faculty also signed cooperation agreements with many companies and businesses in the fields of construction, control engineering and automation to coordinate to bring students to practice and internship.
To meet the needs of labor recruitment and training in line with trends, in the 2022 - 2023 school year, the Faculty of Engineering - Technology will open an additional Automotive Engineering Technology major. With this major, students will be equipped with in-depth knowledge and skills about automotive mechanics - engines, transmission systems - power transmission, control systems, to be able to apply the principles Basic techniques, advanced practical skills and automotive-related skills.
MSc. Bui Kien An - Lecturer of the Faculty of Engineering - Technology introduces the Construction Engineering Technology industry.
“In the development trend of modern society, the automobile industry is an important industry that needs to be prioritized for development to contribute to the industrialization of the country. Moreover, the investment of foreign automobile companies in Vietnam is growing quite rapidly, so for many years the Automotive Technology industry has been included in the list of "hot" industries in terms of demand. labor and quickly become a new trend of choice for young people" - Dr. Do Le Binh commented.
