Scientific workshop: “Application of Prebiotic Lactic to enhance EMS disease resistance in black-tiger shrimps and white-leg shrimps”

On November 11th, Kien Giang university coordinated with An Giang university in organizing scientific conference with the theme: “Prebiotic Lactic application into enhancing preventing disease EMS over the bodies of shrimps and White-leg shrimps.

Kien Giang university lecturers discussed, exchanged academy at the conference.

Coming to the conference, there were Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh – Kien Giang University Vice Rector; Mr. Nguyen Sy Minh – Deputy Chef Sub-Department of Kien Giang Aquarium Sub-Department; Kien Giang lecturers and students; representatives of Kien Giang Science and Technology Department, An Giang University, together with provincial businesses.

The primary of the conference lay in Science and Technology Project belonging to Southern West programs hosted by An Giang University and Dr. Nguyen Huu Thanh, An Giang University.  There were 5 papers presented in the conference: A summary of managing diseases on shrimps in Kien Giang; Prevention methods on urgent liver destroying; Research on prebiotic production process from bacterium Lactic applied in producing food for shrimps to limit urgent liver destroying disease; Roles of Prebiotic Lactic complementing in shrimps’ survival capacity; Fructooligosacharides – determining method FOS in rice flour.

According to Dr. Nguyen Huu Thanh, Prebiotic from Lactic bacteria added to shrimps’ food increased survival, improved digestion and immunity in Whiteleg shrimps; contributed to building a sustainable agricultural model, adapting to climate change in the Mekong Delta; creating a clean shrimp farming industry limiting antibiotics. Prebiotic from Lactic bacteria can be applied to other aquatic products farmed on an industrial scale.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Thanh from An Giang university presented his research results of production process of Prebiotic from Lactic bacteria at the conference.

To confirm the role of Prebiotic Lactic, the research results of the group of authors including Dr. Nguyen Huu Yen Nhi, MSc. Trinh Thi Lan and MSc. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang showed that the prebiotic product ESP (Extra polymer substrates) from the research project when added to shrimp food brought about effects such as supporting growth, increasing survival rate, enhancing beneficial lactic acid bacteria in the intestine, limiting harmful bacteria in the intestine, meeting the ability to enhance the vitality of shrimp against EMS disease.

Mr. Nguyen Sy Minh – Deputy Chef Sub-Department of Kien Giang Aquarium Sub-Department presented his paper at the conference.

From the management perspective, according to Mr. Nguyen Sy Minh - Deputy Head of Kien Giang Aquarium Sub-Department, the cause of shrimp diseases was due to: the weather was becoming more complicated and harsher, making the risk level of aquaculture increasingly higher; the water environment for aquaculture in general, and shrimp farming in particular, was increasingly deteriorating; the irrigation system serving aquaculture and pond construction didn’t meet the requirements; the quality of the seed was not guaranteed; people didn’t release them according to the seasonal schedule, raised them all year round, causing the accumulation of pathogens when there was an infectious disease without reporting to the local veterinary staff, not disinfecting according to regulations; discharging water directly into the environment,...

Experts and scientists shared with each other at the conference.

Talking about urgent liver destroying disease on shrimps, MA. Nguyen Thi Phuong – lecturer at Agriculture and Rural Development Faculty suggested that: the owners needed to choose quality, healthy, disease-immune race; manage well the pond environment; compliment enzymes, organic acids to support shrimps’ digestion and control intestines’ bacteria; modify mineral substances for shrimps during 45 days of shrimps changing cycle.

Kien Giang university students discussed, exchanged academy at the conference.

Moreover, at the conference, the representatives listened plenty of presentations of prebiotic lactic roles in cases of shrimps and White-leg shrimps; introduction on bio-physio effects of Fructooligosacharides in micro-bio-ecosystem improvement.
