Kien Giang University is excited about Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Week

On April 26th , Kien Giang University held the Closing Ceremony of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Week. Attending the program, there were Ms. Nguyen Thi Tu Mi - Deputy Director of Kien Giang Provincial Library; Dr. Nguyen Van Tho - Vice Rector of Kien Giang University; representatives of libraries of colleges in Kien Giang province with more than 150 union members and the youth.

Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Week 2023 at the Information Center and Library, Kien Giang University took place from April 19th  to 26th  with many exciting activities such as: Art book folding; Launching the Loving Corner of Books; Organizing fun games; On the internet, there will be a contest to introduce books or topics "Books for me, for you"; Exhibiting, selecting and displaying books about Uncle Ho, national heroes, cultures, histories, literature, science and technology, life skills... in order to introduce and display at the Information Center and Library.

At the same time, in collaboration with the Kien Giang Provincial Library, Kien Giang College, and Kien Giang Teachers College to organize a symposium on "The current situation and solutions to exploit the potential of libraries" attracting more than 150 Kien Giang University union members, and the youth to participate in exchanges and discussions on such topics as: Operational effectiveness of models to serve readers; Inter-library cooperation; Solutions to effectively exploit the Library's potential; Improvement of the quality of document source processing, document digitization, endogenous digital collection establishment; library management software upgrade; replacing and supplementing information technological equipment and auxiliary equipment investment.

The symposium "The current situation and solutions to exploit the potential of libraries" attracted more than 150 members and young people to attend.

Speaking at the program, Dr. Nguyen Huu Tho - Vice President of Kien Giang University said that Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Week 2023 was organized by the University with many rich and diverse activities to attract readers. Through the week, the school wishes to encourage and develop the reading movement, and share learning resources to raise awareness, practice personality, and foster professional knowledge.

On this occasion, Kien Giang University rewarded individuals who won prizes in the contest to introduce books or the topic "Books for me, for you". The results were following Ms. Le Hoang Phuong won the first prize, Ngo Kim Hoai won the second prize, Ms. Pham Ngoc Huyen and her friend Le Hoang Bao Tran won the third prize; along with 2 consolation prizes and 1 interactive prizes in cyberspace.
