On the morning of April 16th, 2019, KG University organized a meeting to celebrate Chaul Chnam Thmey New Year 2019 for leaders, lecturers, and staff of Khmer ethnicity working at the University.

Attended Associate Professor. Dr. Thai Thanh Luom, Party Committee Secretary - Rector of Kien Giang University; Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh, Deputy Secretary - Vice Rector of the School and leaders of units; Departments and officials, lecturers, and employees of Khmer ethnicity working at Kien Giang University.

M.S. Danh Soc, spoke and shared about the origin and meaning of the traditional New Year of the Khmer ethnic.

The meeting on the occasion of the traditional New Year of the Khmer ethnic people was an opportunity for school leaders to visit, congratulate and listen to the thoughts and aspirations of the Khmer ethnic lecturers working at the school. The meeting with its joyful and exciting atmosphere was a source of encouragement and motivation for lecturers to work, strive for their own careers as well as contribute to building the School.

Representatives of the Board of Authorities offered congratulatory gifts.

Also on this occasion, MSc. Danh Soc, Deputy Director of the Institute of Technology and Training, shared a few words about the origin and meaning of the traditional New Year of the Khmer people, as well as the customs, culture, and activities of the Khmer people in the Chaul Chnam. That was, "Khmer people celebrated the New Year to express their gratitude to their ancestors and those who had contributed to the community; this was an opportunity for people to buy offerings to the gods and the deceased, which was an opportunity to show filial piety to their parents... thereby praying for the best things in life"...
