On the afternoon of January 30th, at the Authority Area Meeting Room - Building A, Kien Giang University Council for the 2019 - 2024 term held its 8th meeting. The meeting had 22/25 members attending and Dr. Dang Thanh Son, Chairman of the School Council, chaired the meeting.

At the meeting, members of the School Council heard reports: results of implementing the 2020 tasks and the direction of the school's 2021 tasks; Summary of 2020 activities and 2021 activity plan of the School Council; the results of the School Board's supervision of the fourth quarter of 2020 and approval of the School Board's financial regulations and a number of reports from the Board of Directors on organization, personnel and financial plan for 2021.

After listening to the report from representatives of the Board of Directors and the Chairman of the School Council, the members of the School Council enthusiastically expressed their opinions. The opinions focused on the following issues: the need to identify strong occupations and forecast upcoming social needs to invest in building new training majors, with attention paid to health science training majors; possessing more open policy mechanisms to enhance on-site human resource training, especially doctoral training; Preparing to apply the new Decree on policies on science and technology activities, increasing the number of topics and projects ordered by localities and businesses to increase revenue from science and technology activities for the University; Strengthening the application of 4.0 technology in management to save personnel and improve the quality and efficiency of managing officials; It is necessary to suggest a more effective solution in reducing the student dropout rate; Enhancing academic autonomy for subjects and faculties;...

In addition, at the meeting, the school Council also considered and gave opinions before approving the Board of Directors' Proposals on the following contents: renaming and establishing a new unit under the school (renaming the Institute of Science and Technology and Training to become a Comprehensive Training and Testing Center, establishing a new Center for Technology Application and Startup); promulgate Regulations on appointment, reappointment, extension of time holding positions, resignation and dismissal from the positions of Rector and Vice Rector of Kien Giang University; 2021 financial plan.
