On the occasion of the traditional New Year Chaul Chnam Thmey 2020, the Board of Authorities of Kien Giang University visited and offered gifts to Cambodian students attending the University, and sent letters to wish international students in Cambodia.

In his New Year greeting letter, the School Rector, Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh, wrote: "On the occasion of the beginning of the new year, the Party Committee and School Board of Authorities would like to sincerely thank international students for trusting and choosing Kien Giang University as the place to realize their dream of becoming engineers and bachelors. He hoped that Cambodian international students continued to promote the tradition of solidarity, overcame difficulties, excelled in learning, preserved and promoted the good traditional cultural identity of the nation; celebrated traditional New Year in accordance with the situation; well implemented the State's regulations on Covid-19 epidemic prevention and controlled to contribute to a safe, prosperous, and happy life for yourself and the community."

The celebration of Chaul Chnam Thmey New Year by the Khmer ethnic people is a cultural feature of Cambodians in particular, or Khmer people in general. Chaul Chnam Thmey New Year was an opportunity to connect international students studying at Kien Giang University together. This was also an opportunity for Cambodian students to remember their ancestors and look forward to the good traditional values of the nation.

Chaul Chnam Thmey New Year took place in the spirit of "thoughtfulness, solidarity, joy, safety and thrift", ensuring the preservation of the fine traditional cultural identity of Khmer ethnic students at Kien Giang University.

These visits, gift giving and New Year wishes have shown the school's deep concerned for the spiritual life of Cambodian international students studying at the School during the Covid-19 epidemic situation.
