(KGO) - On the morning of May 19th , Kien Giang University held a meeting to celebrate its 9th founding anniversary (May 21st , 2014 - May 21st , 2023).

Cultural performance to celebrate the 9th anniversary of Kien Giang University's establishment

On May 21^st , 2014, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 758/QD-TTg to establish Kien Giang University. In 2015, the school officially came into operation.

Through 9 years of construction and development, Kien Giang University is constantly expanding its scale and its training quality is increasing. When announcing the establishment decision, the university had 14 affiliated units including 6 departments, 6 faculties, 1 department, 1 center, so far the university has had 32 units (9 faculties, 8 departments, 1 department, 5 centers).

In the first enrollment course, Kien Giang University had 862 full-time students. By the academic year 2022-2023, the university has more than 4,500 students studying 20 majors, of which 70 are international students. The annual employment rate of graduates is over 90%; particularly, in 2022, 100% of students received a labor contract right at the graduation ceremony.

Speaking at the meeting, Rector of Kien Giang University Nguyen Tuan Khanh emphasized that through 9 years of construction and development, Kien Giang University has achieved many outstanding achievements. The school completed all the works in the project package from the construction of the Kien Giang Branch of Nha Trang University, ensuring spacious and modern facilities, meeting the training requirements.

The teaching, management and service staff of Kien Giang University has increased in quantity and quality. Up to now, the university has 260 employees, including 1 professor, 25 doctorates, 173 Masters. The university has achieved accreditation of higher education institutions and has 5 more training programs that have achieved quality accreditation according to Vietnamese standards, thereby affirming the quality, prestige and position of the university in the field of human resource training.

On this occasion, Kien Giang University's collective was awarded the title of excellent labor collective by the Ministry of Education and Training in the academic year 2021-2022 and a certificate of merit for outstanding and typical achievements in the emulation movement "Innovation, creativity in management, teaching and learning” for the academic year 2021-2022.

2 groups of Kien Giang University were awarded emulation flags by the Ministry of Education and Training; 3 groups of the school were awarded the title of excellent labor collective. 1 individual was awarded the title of ministerial-level emulation soldier by the Ministry of Education and Training in the academic year 2021-2022…

At the meeting, Kien Giang University announced the decision to establish and launch the Interim Executive Committee of the Alumni Association of Kien Giang University.
