On the morning of October 11, 2024, in a solemn and exciting atmosphere, Kien Giang University organized the Opening Ceremony of the 2024-2025 academic year and welcomed 1,843 new students of the 10th course of the 2024-2028 academic year.

Attending the ceremony were Ms. Le Hong Tham - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Kien Giang Province; Ms. Truong Thanh Thuy - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Labor Federation of Kien Giang Province, leaders of departments, branches, universities, colleges, intermediate schools, high schools, enterprises and more than 500 officials, lecturers and students of Kien Giang University.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Vice President in charge of Kien Giang University, sent warm congratulations to the new students of the 10th course; emphasized the importance of the 2024 - 2025 school year in the journey towards the 20th anniversary of the school's establishment and the goal of university autonomy by 2026; encouraged and motivated students not only to study knowledge but also to develop comprehensively in life skills, team spirit and the ability to adapt to changes in the current environment, becoming individuals with innovative and creative thinking who make positive contributions to society. Kien Giang University will always accompany and create the best conditions for students to develop; at the same time, called for the efforts and solidarity of all teachers, staff, employees and students to unite, be responsible, and join forces to seize opportunities, overcome all challenges, and move towards success in the new school year. In 2024, the University enrolled 1,843 new full-time students for 25 applied-oriented training majors. Achieving 100.16% of the target assigned by the University Council (1,840 students). Bringing the total number of students to 7,000 students. The rate of students having jobs before receiving their diplomas is over 75% and having jobs after 1 year of graduation is over 95%.

The 2024-2025 school year of Kien Giang University with the theme "Innovation, creativity, solidarity, discipline, building a happy learning environment". The University continues to be steadfast in its goal of improving the quality of teaching and learning environment, constantly innovating teaching and research methods, meeting the increasing needs of modern society. Education quality assessment activities will be promoted, while attracting students through training quality and employment.

At the Ceremony, Kien Giang University received a lot of support from individuals and businesses inside and outside the province with a total amount of over 400 million VND. Scholarships from the Kien Giang University Scholarship Fund and the Loving Meal Fund were awarded to students with difficult circumstances but always strive to overcome difficulties and study well. These are practical and meaningful actions, helping students have more motivation to continue their journey of learning and training.

In recognition of the contributions of the collective and individuals in the past school year, Kien Giang University was awarded the title of Excellent Labor Collective for the 2022-2023 school year by the Ministry of Education and Training, and received the Emulation Flag for 2 units with outstanding achievements in the movement "Innovation and creativity in management, teaching and learning"; The Minister of Education and Training awarded Certificates of Merit to Kien Giang University and 01 collective and 02 individuals of the University for their outstanding achievements in their tasks for two consecutive years from the 2021-2022 school year to the 2022-2023 school year. Recognizing the title of "Ministry-level Emulation Fighter" to Associate Professor, Dr. Thai Thanh Luom, Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment, for his outstanding achievements in his work from the 2020-2021 school year to the 2022-2023 school year. The University was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province for its contributions to the movement "Kien Giang joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind" for the period 2021-2025.

On this occasion, the University awarded 2 valedictorians of the 2024 admission exam, 39 students with excellent achievements in the 2023-2024 school year; Awarding decisions to 23 students to benefit from Kien Giang University's student attraction policy; awarding 22 scholarships to students in difficult circumstances.

Student Nguyen Huynh Yen Nhi, majoring in Vietnamese Language and Culture, representing the new students, expressed her honor and pride in becoming a student of Kien Giang University, and shared her determination and efforts in studying, researching and practicing skills when entering the new school year at the school.
